Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are sorry to announce with this message the cancellation of the ACM SIGMETRICS 2020 conference, which was scheduled to take place in
Boston, USA, on June 8-12, 2020. Note that, the conference will instead be held online as per the above announcement. SIGMETRICS is the flagship conference of the ACM special interest group for the computer systems performance evaluation community.
We chose to cancel the event to ensure the safety and well-being of the conference participants and to adhere to current government guidelines which restrict social gatherings.
As there is little certainty regarding when the current situation will be over, we made the decision not to postpone the event to another date.
The following contingency plan has been put in place to support SIGMETRICS 2020 authors and attendees, in light of the cancellation:
Attendees can use the following letter to support reimbursement requests within their organizations or with travel operators.
All accepted full papers at SIGMETRICS 2020 will appear as usual in ACM POMACS. Extended abstracts for these papers will also be published as usual in ACM PER.
The conference will not charge fees for either publication.
The organizers will soon be in touch with the authors with guidelines to prepare video presentations for their papers.
We expect to make these available in the public domain in early June 2020 to increase the paper visibility.
As we recognize the importance of presenting research at high-quality, focused, in-person gatherings, authors of accepted full papers are additionally given the
possibility of presenting their SIGMETRICS work at a later point in time, choosing between these two options:
The above opportunities are entirely optional. Registration instructions and fees will be published directly on the Performance 2020 and SIGMETRICS
2021 websites once the venues open registration. A paper may be presented by a single author and only at one of the two conferences.
Leveraging our long-established partnership with IFIP WG 7.3, IFIP Performance 2020
will host presentations from both Performance and SIGMETRICS regular tracks. SIGMETRICS 2020 authors will thus have the option to register for this event and give a presentation of their SIGMETRICS work in November 2020 in Milan, Italy.
A similar option will be available to present at ACM SIGMETRICS 2021, which is planned to take place in Beijing, China, in June 2021. Therefore, the 2021 conference
will include presentations for SIGMETRICS papers accepted at both the 2020 and 2021 deadlines.
A brief live web session will be held in early June 2020 at the time of the previously scheduled conference, which will summarize the paper acceptance process, introduce the videos, discuss the forthcoming presentations at
Performance 2020 and SIGMETRICS 2021, and acknowledge the contributions of the Organization Committee and the Technical Program Committee.
The SIGMETRICS Achievement Award, Rising Star Award, and Test of Time Award will be announced during the live web session,
but will be presented to the recipients at SIGMETRICS 2021.
Some of the planned 2020 workshops may self-organize and go forward in a virtual format. More information will be posted on this website. Tutorials and panels will not take place.
No registration fee reimbursements for SIGMETRICS 2020 will be available since the conference never opened registration.
We appreciate your patience and we hope that these contingency measures will compensate in part for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation, which was unavoidable due to the worsening of the pandemic.
We are very grateful for the outstanding efforts that the SIGMETRICS 2020 team and committees have undertaken to prepare for the event. We would also like to thank the authors for contributing their high-quality papers across the three deadlines.
We look forward with excitement to their presentations at Performance 2020 and SIGMETRICS 2021.
Thank you again for your understanding and support. Stay safe.
