Dr. Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi wins the 2026 ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Research Award
ACM SIGMETRICS is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi of UC Irvine as the recipient of the 2026 ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Research Award in recognition of her outstanding early-career contributions to resilient cyberinfrastructure, spanning foundational work on Internet resilience, wide-area Internet measurement and mapping, and trustworthy AI-driven systems.
Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine, and an Amazon Scholar with Prime Video. Her research interests lie at the intersection of networking, systems, and machine learning. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019 under the supervision of Brighten Godfrey. Her research establishes resilient and trustworthy foundations for modern cyberinfrastructure, spanning Internet resilience, cloud resilience, and robust learning-enabled systems. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award (2025), ACM LEO-NET Dave Täht Outstanding Paper Award (2025), ACM CoNEXT Best Paper Award (2024), and the IETF/IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize (2022). In 2022, she was named an N2Women Rising Star in Networking and Communications.
